I can understand loaning money for business outside football, but if Sullivan has got ÂŁ25m spare to loan out why not loan it to his own football business West Ham instead of giving one of our rivals a leg up?
As others have alluded to, the interest rate is obviously higher, but this proves what most knew all along that our owners have never and will never invest their own money in West Ham unless they charge high interest.
We will tread water at best with these current owners, they won’t go before for 4/5 years of stagnation unless pushed.

He’s diversifying his interests. Never know how long this football bubble will last, or how long West Ham will be stable for.
If he can earn interested on a guaranteed or secure loan elsewhere, he’d be stupid to put more money into the same place he’s already put into.

Sullivan will probably set up a new company as a vehicle to make the loan spinning it while substantiating that the loan is made from one of his investment companies and has nothing to do with West Ham as it is not his personal money and not West Ham’s money.
Fact is it is still a substantial investment decision made by him into a football club that is a rival to his own and that investment could have gone into his own club. We all know why it didn’t because the interest is higher and he doesn’t give a shit about West Ham unless it pays him a high return of interest.
Sooner they are forced out the better.
